Preparing for your website project is
much more simple than you would imagine! This project is going to be
quite enjoyable and not nearly as much work as you might think. It
definitely won't take time away from your work schedule and you'll
be amazed how smoothly it will proceed!
Website Marketing
Tips:
Use CLIENT TESTIMONIALS from happy users of your product or services. These
will do more than anything else to increase business.
Text descriptions in detail are wonderful and necessary, but
crisp, clear photographs of your services, products or
completed projects are fantastic visual reinforcement.
Use words to be very descriptive in telling how your services or
products are superior such as "FAST - EASY - A GOOD VALUE." Tell the
viewers WHY you make these claims.
If you are not
someone who checks their email at least every two days then I don't
recommend putting an email contact in your website! Allow people to
call you, because unanswered emails are very bad for business!
Things I'll need for your project:
-
Your domain name
(.com address name) registered and hosting account set up and paid
for. (I can assist you with this or take care of doing it for you.)
I prefer using
12wonderwebhosting.com
(I have found this company to be extremely reliable and helpful with
excellent
customer service that is just top of the
line!), however, you are free to use any hosting company you choose.
Some are more difficult for me to deal with (like godaddy.com)
because they are too big! We'll talk about it when the time comes.
-
I'll need your
photos or graphics, IF YOU HAVE ANY. I prefer to use clear,
unedited photos for clarity. You are welcome to email them to me or
simply put them on a CD to mail me. I will also scan photos for you,
but it takes more time, so having them on a CD is ideal.
PLEASE
KEEP YOUR ORIGINALS OR A COPY OF YOUR PICTURES, PHOTO CD'S, ARTWORK,
LOGO ART, ETC. It's very difficult to keep track of and return CD's
and other photos. If you would like items returned, please be sure
to mark them with your name, and provide stamped, self-addressed
mailing materials. Thanks!
-
I'll need your
text content, IF YOU HAVE ANY! It may surprise you to learn that 80%
of my clients have me take care of most of their text content.
If you have personal biographies or facts that are specific and
pertinent, then please be sure to provide them. Here is a simple
BIOGRAPHY suggestion sheet you can
print out to use. You can email me
WORD documents or PDF files or you can mail or fax the information
to me. When laying out the design it is helpful to know how much
text content there will be.
-
I'd like to know
your color scheme and layout, IF YOU HAVE ONE. About 90% of my
clients ask me to take care of designing the whole website, so I
work around your logo or help you create a simple logo. (For a more
elaborate logo, I work with several fine graphic artists that I can
refer you to.)
-
You wonder about
your project timeline? How soon your project is finished will be
directly related to how quickly you provide me with the information
and materials needed to complete it! If we stop and start and have
long lapses in-between, that can be a problem for me, and will
sometimes involve a $50 reactivation fee. Please be aware of the
fact that I schedule client projects and allot time accordingly, so
if you are tardy with your information, then you will be moved down
the line and another client's project moves up. It's only
fair.
